Audrey Mars, MD, Neurodevelopmental Pediatrician at Developmental
Pediatric Associates and the Hunterdon Regional Autism Center located in
Hunterdon Medical Center was recognized as a “Doctor Who Makes a
Difference” in the current issue of New Jersey Life Health + Beauty
magazine.
Dr. Mars was noted for her work with autism spectrum disorders and is
currently collaborating with the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention to research the prevalence of autism in the nation’s
children. Dr. Mars recently received an award from the Centers for
Disease Control’s (CDC) National Center on Birth Defects and
Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) for recognizing her commitment to
the NCBDDD and to individuals with autism.
At the Hunterdon Regional Autism Center the key focus is to improve the
quality of life of individuals with autism spectrum disorders in
Hunterdon, Warren, Somerset and Mercer counties. The center provides
increased access to multidisciplinary assessment and treatment programs,
behavioral and pharmacological treatment programs that target core and
associated symptoms of autism, while providing the intense monitoring
and follow-up necessary for optimal therapeutic effect. In addition,
the Hunterdon Regional Autism Center provides community based services
through training and collaboration with primary care physicians,
pediatricians, pediatric residents and local school districts.
